Waiting for answers about a missing loved one can feel endless.
If you need to file a new missing persons report, update an existing report, or access support and resources, we encourage you to attend the California Department of Justice’s “Find CA Missing” event.
It’s happening on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. This free event takes place inside the Fresno State Library located at 5200 N. Barton Ave., Fresno, CA 93740.
This is an opportunity for families to connect directly with investigators, advocates and forensic specialists representing a variety of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. Visitors are encouraged to bring photos, copies of police reports, fingerprint cards, medical records and dental x-rays to create or update a missing persons file. You may also include key identifying information such as tattoos, birthmarks, etc. Specialists will be on-site to collect your DNA sample if you choose, which can be placed into a database for a possible comparison to existing investigations.
Unidentified people in the law enforcement system is a huge issue that agencies all across the country are facing. The Fresno County Sheriff's Office currently has 22 unidentified homicide victims. They were found between the years 1975 – 2014. It includes 17 men, four women and one child.
Attending “Find CA Missing” is a chance to network with professionals and potentially solve cold cases.
