The Fresno County Sheriff's Office was established in 1856 and has a proud history and tradition of providing professional law enforcement services to the more than one million residents of Fresno County. With the assistance of our Communications Dispatch Center, our agency patrols more than 6,000 square miles of Central California with diverse terrain that varies from open farmlands to metropolitan areas to rugged mountain peaks. Our personnel are assigned to specialty units such as: SWAT, Search and Rescue, Boating Enforcement, Air Support, Dive, Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Off-Road Safety.
Aside from patrol operations, our office is also in charge of the Fresno County Jail, Coroner's Office, Public Administrator's Office and security within Fresno County's court facilities.
Approximately 1,300 employees work at our agency who follow the motto, "One Team, One Mission."
