In June of 1991, human remains were located near Tranquillity, in rural Fresno County.
Upon the autopsy results, it showed the man was a victim of a homicide. However, he was not identified at that time.
In 2025, thanks to new technology, the man's fingerprints were submitted to be re-analyzed. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit received an identification match of Rene Perez, who was born on November 19, 1952. Rene would have been 38 years old at the time he was discovered.
